Washington State #DayofEmpathy Second Chances Rally on February 7

By Brooke Kaufman | Communications Specialist

On Tuesday, February 7, Dream.Org will host a Second Chances Rally at the Washington State Capitol Building in Olympia as part of its Day of Empathy 2023. The rally supports two key pieces of legislation: HB 1324, which would prevent juvenile records from automatically increasing a person’s sentence, and HB 1325, which would allow qualifying persons serving long sentences imposed before they reached the age of 25 to seek review for possible release. Former Seattle Clemency Project (SCP) client Eugene Youngblood and his wife, Karla, will lead the rally as Empathy Network leaders. A member of SCP’s Reentry & Mentoring Program will also speak at the community event.

The rally will be held on the north steps of the State Capitol from 3-5 pm PST. Attendees can use this link to register for the event.
